Researcher biography
Dr Madan Gupta is a Senior Lecturer in Agricultural Engineering at Gatton Campus where he has been teaching since 1992. His teaching and research activities involve the application of engineering science and technology to sustainable crop production.
He is a conscientious and committed academic who excels at teaching over a wide range of courses from first year to postgraduate level. His teaching practices are a reflection of his educational philosophy based on the principles of 3 Ps – Passion, Participation and Patience. He was awarded a Carrick Citation for Outstanding Contributions to Student Learning in 2006. He also won the University Award for Excellence in Teaching in 2007. Dr Gupta’s research interests lie in the areas of precision agriculture and mechanisation of new crops. He is the coordinator of postgraduate course work research projects at the Gatton Campus. He is also the Chair of School of Agriculture and Food Sciences Assessment Sub-Committee.
Dr Gupta has served as Deputy Chairperson and Chairperson for the Queensland Branch of the Australian Society for Engineering in Agriculture. He also held the position of Chair of Division of Natural Rubber & Resins (2009-2011) of Association for the Advancement of Industrial Crops. He is currently an Australian representative for the International Society of Precision Agriculture.
