Bushfoods: Traditional Custodians
The Bushfoods project is led by three Traditional Custodian communities who collaborative with UQ science researchers.
Working together we identify:
- unique bush tucker plants on custodial lands
- ornamental plants that can be propagated for urban gardens and land rehabilitation
- the research needed to achieve bushfood business goals.
Batavia Traditional Owners Aboriginal Corporation is a member based not for profit organisation representing 3 Traditional Owner clan groups, namely Northern Kaanju, Atambaya and Yinwum in landholding interests in northern central Cape York Peninsula. Batavia is a Land Trust and currently has a Board of 9 Directors with 3 Directors representing each clan group.
YACHATDAC is based in Barcaldine, and was formed by key members of the Traditional Custodian families of the Iningai lands.
