The Deadly Solutions bushfood project is led by Traditional Custodians who collaborate with Indigenous experts and UQ science researchers to develop bushfoods with business potential.

Over 5 years, we’ll work together across 5 research areas to:

  • improve knowledge about native, plant-based bushfoods
  • discover and develop the potential of new bushfoods, beverages and ornamental plants
  • leverage bushfood business opportunities to benefit Indigenous communities.

We’ll combine Indigenous Traditional Knowledge with science to:

  • test plant-based bushfoods for food and nutrition properties
  • develop sustainable food production systems
  • progress certification for ethically produced bushfood.

This $1.5 million project is funded by the Australian Research Council (ARC) Discovery Indigenous scheme.
